IES - Indian Engineering Services is one of the most Prestigious job in India. People in this job is responsible for Country's Infrastructure development. They get high Pay and fame but....
Generally people has different mindset, some think to earn more money and some think to earn more respect and some are interested in learning new things. Usually these are the things we expect from any job.
Now you get into MNC’s and you start earning earning earning your first wish satisfied. Coming to the respect yes you get respect from your relatives and from the company members. Then coming to Learning new things it depends on Company and what it deals with.
Now Assume you are an IES officer, after 7th pay commission the pay is Good and you will get perks, allowances etc. The salary what you get is almost saved because the Govt. provides you all Daily needs and even Free Medical facility, child’s educ.,Sports clubs passes etc etc. but people used to worry much about the salary what they get by hand totally but eventually they has to spend their money on Medical, Child’s Educ.,Sports Clubs etc etc so almost a person working in MNC’s and IES officer monthly savings becomes same ya but it may varies from 10–15K.
Coming to respect its unmatchable there is a lot difference in treatment when you say I’m an Officer to anyone. Not even your relatives and Office Staff every one in your colony sees you as a great person and they will respect even your father much more because you are the Class I Gazetted Officer of India and one of the Top most Administrators in India.
And coming to learning the Things its the biggest and Great platform. Because you will be knowing about wide aspects. Its like a Techno-Managerial job where you will be knowing both technical aspects and also about the Management tricks and no job gives u such a great thing. In this job if you dont want to know or go deep into technical you can learn about Management roles and If you love technical you can receive even Padmasri(Second Highest Civilian Honour) for your work because your work is recognised by the Govt. and publishes to media but where as in private it is limited to your company and not exposed much. You can check “The Father of Fiber Optics” he is an IES officer and Padmasri and many more you can check online. You can go to other Dept. by Deputation if you are interested to work there and no job provides that facility.
Usually you are attracted to salary by MNC’s but listen you will not become chairman of that company but in IES you will become Chairman of your Dept. aft some years if you joined early else you will be one among the Board of Directors and this is the foremost thing because you have not invested any Capital(money) nor stressful life you become Chairman(usually called Director General in Govt. Sector).
And you will be having Foreign Deputations and Tours to maintain some International relations with our dear countries like USA,France,UK,Russia etc. so you will be having very good life style.
But I can also say few IAS/IPS/IES etc officers are leaving the job also once they got into service and some are feeling stressful while you can also see a lot many guys from MNC’s comes to IES/IAS etc services. It all there personal reasons and it varies from person to person. so let you decide but one thing I can say if you join IES you will be having bright career ahead don't bother about that.
